Summers brothers bring it back to Amerika

(They did it with Mobil)

In 1964, Donald Campbell of great britain pushed the speed record for wheel-driven cars to over 400MPH. But the Summers brothers, Bob and Bill, of California, were already preparing to make his record ancient history. The “Goldenrod” blew top out of the record books : 412.702 MPH

It took a slim, streamlined body that looked like a knitting needle on wheels. And four engines. Four engines each developing 600 horse power. That’s where Mobil came in. Mobil brewed a racing fuel that played a big part in squeezing all that Power from what were close to production passenger-car engines.

This racing fuel was created by Mobil science and know how. And this same capability for producing ultimate fuels for racing has produced the Mobil Premium gasoline you can get for your car.

Mobiloil lubricated the engine. And Mobil greases carried the load of 2,400 horse power through transmissions, couplings, transfer cases, drive shafts, and wheels.

We don’t know of any tougher way to prove the power in a fuel and the protection in a lubricant. Unless it’s going 500 MPH… and we’ve got that on the schedule. Next time you need gasoline, come to Mobil-like the record breakers .
